The winners of the awards offered at NetSci2018 were:

Poster Awards:

  • Three best poster awards for first-ranked (€300, sponsored by Nature Physics), second-ranked (€200, sponsored by Nature Physics) and third-ranked (€100). 

    • First Rank: Eugenio Valdano, Michele Re Fiorentin and Alberto Antonioni, "The apostolic succession of the Roman Catholic Church: a network analysis" 

    • Second Rank: Felipe Montes, Ana Maria Jaramillo, José David Meisel, Albert Diaz-Guilera, Juan Alejandro Valdivia and Roberto Zarama, "A benchmark of centralized and decentralized strategies for identifying influential seed nodes for spreading process in social networks"

    • Third Rank: Jose Brum, Emma Towlson, Nima Dehmamy and Albert-László Barabási, "Relationship between topology and geometry in the 3d mouse brain connectivity network"
       

  • One best poster video presentation in the amount of €200. 

    • ​Winner: Seungkyu Shin and Juyong Park, "Observing the Evolutionary Dynamics of a Movie Network based on Tag Genome"
       

  • The Journal of Network Theory in Finance Best Poster Award for a poster on network theory in finance, and a 3-month complimentary subscription to Risk.net Premium.

    • Winner: ​Samuel Unicomb, Gerardo Iniguez, Janos Kertesz, Diana Knipl and Marton Karsai, "Threshold driven contagion on multiplex networks"  

 

Paper Award:

  • The Journal of Network Theory in Finance Best Paper Award for a paper on network theory in finance, with a certificate sponsored by Risk.net along with a 3-month complimentary subscription to Risk.net Premium. 

    • Winner: ​Andrea Zaccaria, Lorenzo Napolitano, Luciano Pietronero and Emanuele Pugliese, "Firms’ Complexity: Technological Scope, Coherence and Performance"
